Nadine Burke UTUBE - How childhood trauma affects health across a lifetime 17 feb 2015
I don't ask why you are seeking help, I ask what is the emptiness ? what is the pain ?
the addiction releases the pain, a sense of calmness, peace, and control. The action of the addictive behaviour, soothes the pain, releases the feel good hormone, dopamine and reduces the stress hormone cortisol. Why the pain, why the addiction, what is the discomfort in your own skin ? despite the action being temporary and the release from pain temporary, it is a moment or more of release.
Wisdom is when we fill the gap with compassion for self and wisdom to not act when there are negative consequences.
Women's health, food addiction, eating disorders, loss and grief, depression, anxiety and stress can all relate to pain suffered in childhood. Evidenced based psychology helps support and guide the individual to unpack this suffering, realisation, information, and guidance can help you choose a path rather than feel bound to a particular path.
